Hihlurile is a Xitsonga word that means "we have conquered" or "we have overcome." This name reflects our journey, our resilience, and our determination to share our cultural heritage with the world.
Meet Sarah Masunga, founder of Hihlurile Pot of Beads. A former Curriculum Advisor, Sarah's journey took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In 1999, she embarked on a new venture, creating handmade beads that would share her cultural heritage with the world. Joined by her husband Paul in 2009, they form a formidable team, driven by a passion for storytelling and cultural preservation.
